During these challenging “new normal” times, MIBC is proud to introduce you to a new Online OPEN Competition.
Our aim is to unite young artists from the around the world and inspire them to share their art form in an atmosphere of discovery and collaboration. Our objective is to help them grow through quality dance education and a fair and professionally organized virtual competition.
This MIBC Online OPEN Competition will be different. It will be entirely online and include interactive masterclasses that follow our vision for helping each dancer as an individual.
The Competition will be judged by a renowned jury panel and will include live and interactive Master Classes with our prestigious faculty via Zoom.

INDIVIDUAL Category

INDIVIDUAL Category Participants must complete their classical and contemporary variation.
DIVISION 1: AGES 9 TO 11
DIVISION 2: AGES 12 TO 14
DIVISION 3: AGES 15 TO 18
DIVISION 4: AGES 19 TO 24
ENSEMBLE Category

The Ensemble category is open to participants between the ages of 9 to 24. The ensemble’s choreographer, coach, or representative must complete a dance that it can be either classical or contemporary in style.
DIVISION 1: AGES 9 TO 11
DIVISION 2: AGES 12 TO 17
DIVISION 3: AGES 18 TO 24
PAS DE DEUX Category

The Pas de Deux category is open to participants between the ages of 15 to 24. The couple must complete two Pas de Deux: one classical (including adagio, both variations, and coda) and one contemporary.

Winners will receive an Electronic Award Certificate. Awards and cash prizes are subject to change based on the amount of registrants entered in each division. Please note that no physical awards will be presented or mailed. Each dancer will receive scores and an email with their virtual awards.

RULES MIBC ONLINE Open

All performances will be evaluated using the MIBC video judging system and scoring criteria. Each performance will be adjudicated by three of our MIBC jury panelists at the time.
Judges will score each variation out of 100. The final score will be out of 300. All registered performers will receive the jury’s commentaries and adjudications.
For those competitors entering in more than one division (solo or pas de deux), please note that the highest-scoring variation for that competitor’s division will be considered for award and placement qualification. A competitor may also participate in one or more ensembles.
Time limits for Variation:
Solo variations up to 2:45 mins
Pas de Deux Classical regular time - Contemporary: up to 6:00 mins
Ensemble (10+ dancers) up to 4:00 mins

3 – 5 people should be no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds max
6 – 9 people should be no longer than 3 minutes max
10+ people should be no longer than 4 minutes max
